Seachem Prime® is a complete, concentrated conditioner for both fresh and salt water. Prime® removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Prime® converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic formula that is instantly removed by the aquarium's biological filter. Prime® can be used during aquarium cycling for ammonia and nitrite toxicity. Prime® removes toxicity from nitrites and nitrates, allowing biological filtration to be more effective in removing them. It also regularizes any heavy metals that may be present in tap water in regular concentrations. Prime® also promotes the production and regeneration of the fish's natural protective mucosa. Prime® is not acidic and will have no impact on pH. Prime® will not create any kind of reaction in your skimmers. Use it when setting up the aquarium and whenever you change or replace the water.

 Because it's different?
 Almost every company makes a product that removes chlorine. None of them, however, can compare in quality, concentration or effectiveness with Seachem's main product: Prime®. Prime® is the second most concentrated anti-chlorine product on the market, right after alpha™ from aquavitro, Seachem's premium line, also available from AquaOrinoco. A simple 100ml bottle will treat up to 4000 liters of tap water. Prime® will remove both chlorine and chloramines present in municipal water supply.
 Prime® also contains a binder that makes ammonia, nitrites and nitrates non-toxic. It is very important to understand how these two functions work together. All anti-chlorines operate through a chemical process known as reduction. In this process, the toxic gas of dissolved Chlorine (Cl2) is converted into non-toxic Chloride ions (CL-). The reduction process also breaks the bonds between the Chlorine and the Nitrogen atoms of the chloramine (NH2Cl) molecules, releasing the chlorine atoms and replacing them with Hydrogen (H) creating ammonia (NH3).
 Typically, anti-chlorine products stop there, leaving the aquarium full of ammonia! Seachem takes the necessary step forward by including an ammonia binder that will remove toxicity from the ammonia produced in the reduction process.
 Be very careful when purchasing water conditioners. If municipal authorities add chloramines to the water they supply, a common sodium thiosulfate-based anti-chlorine product will not suffice. Prime® promotes the natural production and regeneration of the fish's natural protective mucosa, rather than relying on unnatural fish protective artificial compounds. A bonus for reef aquarium enthusiasts - Prime® will not react at all with the protein skimmer.
 How to use
 Use 1 capful (5 mL) for every 200 L of new water. This will remove approximately 1 mg/L ammonia, 4 mg/L chloramine, or 5 mg/L chlorine. For smaller doses, be aware that each cap protrusion is approximately 1 mL. It can be added directly to the aquarium, base the dose on the total volume of the aquarium. Sulfur odor is normal. For exceptionally high concentrations of chlorine, twice the dose can be safely used. To reduce nitrite toxicity in an emergency, a dose 5 times the recommended dose may be used. If the water temperature is above 30 °C and the chlorine and ammonia levels are low, you can use half the dose.
